Ponta do Canto - Marica (photo: google earth)?!

It couldn't be different, the jokes started early and Leticia was inspired, coming up with some of the best stuff ever! On the way to Marica we decided to take this longer way that goes along the beach but it is pretty long! Way longer than we thought. When we finally got to Marica we were pretty disappointed to find out that the beach on the picture didn't exist! In other words, we were at the spot the beach were supposed to be but it just wasn't there! Some fool is putting wrong pics at google earth!

One of the few living things we found at Marica (photo: Munir)
We decided to find somewhere to ride in the area since the beach looked endless. We ended up finding this spot where the waves were a bit more powerful and a whole lot closer to the shore. But because of the wind the conditions weren't that good at all.

We keep trying to find some waves until we got really hungry. Since the places to have something to eat didn't look too good we decided to go back to Niteroi and have some Mcdonald's and then look for waves at the Niteroi area.
We were so hungry that eating row noodles seamed a good idea! (photo: Andre Magarao)

Happy after the meal we went to Camboinhas beach hopping to find some waves but it was almost flat and we headed to Itacoatiara Beach, which for the second weekend in a row provided us pretty nice waves and a nice sunset even though it was quite windy! After long hours driving around we finally were riding some cool sutff!!

The waves weren't like they were last weekend but they were pretty fun!

As the day went by the tide was getting lower and the conditions were changing. But as more skimmers arrived everyone was getting more and more amped to ride.

Around mid day the beach was full and on the spot that the waves were better some surfers and bodyboarders were also crowding the water.
Which would be frustrating everywhere else but at Itacoatiara Beach that can be inspiring.
The water was pretty cold at Itacoatiara Beach
Since the conditions were still favorable we kept riding. But at around 3pm the wind got stronger and the conditions were quite sketchy.
After a break to have something to eat, rest and some jokes we were getting ready to go back home when all of a sudden the wind stoped. So we decided to have another look at the waves and for our surprise the waves were pretty good again and now with the tide getting higher everything looked right for a really nice sunset session.

We only left the beach when the cold and the night made skimming impossible. After 12 hours at the beach we can say we went back home happy.

Massaguacu, lots of
laughs and a huge traffic jam!
(The Beach; Photo: Google Earth)
On September the 7th
it was a public holiday here in Brazil (actually
Brazil is full of public holidays) and we went on
another trip to the north side shore of Sao Paulo. We
left Rio at around 4 o’clock on thrusday and as soon
as we left the house we met a caracter that would get
really popular on this trip: the traffic. After 4
hours and a lot of laughs (special thanks to Leticia)
we finally managed to get thru the first 60 miles of
the almost 220 miles we had until our destination.
After lots of biscuits, some mcdonald’s and more
laughs we ended up arriving at Ubatuba late a night
where we, once again, met our friend Piero (special
thanks to Max for lending us the house!!)

On the next morning, after Junior (local from Toque
Toque) we left the house not knowing where we would
find some waves. Since the swell was coming from east
we knew that Sununga Beach wouldn’t be working. So we
decided to take our chances and go to Massaguacu (at
the Caraguatatuba District). Massaguacu is a long
beach and the access is really easy because the beach
is actually just beside the road that connects Rio to
Santos which makes the skimming there very peculiar,
after all it’s not always that you ride at a place
where you wait for the waves with this huge traffic
jam as your audience.
Even though we had driven thru this road lots of
times and seen the beach we had never skimmed there
because we have never seen waves breaking that well
over there but we knew that with the right swell that
place could become heaven. When we got there, for our
surprise the waves had a great size and were breaking
perfectly on the shore. Arguably the most similar
wave to Aliso Beach that we have ever seen in Brazil.
Lots of barrels later, we went back home knowing that
we would spend a lot of time at Massaguacu that
weekend.
On the next day we drove to Massaguacu once again.
The waves were a bit smaller and a little chopper but
equally heavy and fun. Once again we had a day full
of barrels.

At night we decided to give a try at the local skate
park and we ended up finding a few guys riding really
well!

On Sunday the conditions were similar to Saturday.
The wind wasn’t helping but the waves were still
pretty strong and had a nice size.

Miscellaneous
On the way back to Rio de Janeiro we met our friend
traffic once again but that ended up being a the
reason to more jokes and more laughs. Apart from not
having the chance to eat the famous carrot with
chocolat cake at Itamambuca Beach we don’t have
anything to complain from our trip.
